This post shows how to check the current BIOS version on a Windows 8.1 bios 8.7, using the Windows registry, WMI Command, System Information Tool (Msinfo32.Lea: Check if your PC uses UEFI or BIOS.
Check the BIOS version
You may need to check your BIOS version if you upgrade it. Of course, if you want to do or should do it is another question. Anyway, there are several ways you can do this. Let’s take a look at them.
1 Using WMI commands
You can use Windows Management Instrumentation to find out the details of your BIOS. To do this, open an elevated application windows prompt, type the following and press Enter:
wmic bios get biosversion
2 Using MSINFO32
The built-in Msinfo32 or System Information tool displays this information in System Summary. To open this tool, run msinfo32 and press Enter.
3 Use the Registry Editor
When Windows loads, stores BIOS information and other details in the following registry key:
HARDWARE DESCRIPTION HKeyLocalMachine System
Here you can see details System. You will also see additional details in SystemBiosDate, SystemBIOSVersion, VideoBiosDate and subkeys VideoBiosVersion.
To see the BIOS version Run regedit and navigate to the registry key mentioned.
4 Use DXDiag
DirectX Diagnostic Tool or DXDiag. exe is basically intended to help troubleshoot DirectX. But if you run dxdiag to open, you will see the BIOS version listed in the System tab.
Of course, apart from this, you can also use some tool for third-party information system and to view BIOD Speccy version or watch it when you enter your machine BIOS settings by pressing keys F10 bios F12 during boot time.
