How System Restore from a command prompt in Windows XP

Windows XP includes a System Restore tool, but it only works directly when you can start the computer to Windows XP normally.

To restore the system to its previous backup point from the command prompt should proceed as follows:

Restart the computer and press F8 during startup to start in safe mode with a command prompt
Log on to the computer with an administrator account or with an account that has administrator credentials
Type the following command at a command prompt and press Enter:

systemrootsystem32restorerstrui. exe

Now follow the instructions on the screen to restore the computer to a previous state.
