Bios tablets and non-Microsoft

8.1 If you have a Windows tablet or device with a UEFI BIOS and BIOS boot no longer works the way it did in the classic desktop PC. Fortunately, Windows 8.
1 provides a method that works when touch and mouse and keyboard use. Also, if you have a Microsoft Surface tablet, there are some useful buttons that you can use for a quick start to the BIOS. This is how you do it:

I’ll start with the method that works on all devices, including tablets and non-Microsoft Nokia Lumia 2520, Encore Toshiba, Lenovo Miix, Delll Venue Pro, ASUS VivoTab Smart HP Omni, Razer Edge or Samsung ATIV Tab. The last section of this tutorial covers the special shortcuts available in tablet Surface.

Go to Settings and Perform Advanced PC Home

Start with UEFI boot on all windows 8.1 tablets and devices, it means the first registration and accessing Windows PC Settings. There, click or tap Update and Recovery.

Then click or touch of recovery.

In this case, go to the Start-up section enlarged on the right, and click or tap Restart now.

Windows 8.1 is restarted in advanced mode, where you can access a lot of options, including one for starting the UEFI BIOS.

The images included in this article were performed on a virtual machine with Windows 8.1. This means that the tablet or device can see some additional options that are missing in my images.

8.1 After you restart Windows, a blue screen, where you are asked to choose an option shown. In its tablet that is likely to see an additional option called Use a device that should be ignored. You have to click or tap Troubleshooting.

Then click or tap Advanced.

Lots of options are now displayed, including one called Settings UEFI firmware (missing in this screenshot). Click or tap Configuring UEFI firmware.

You will then be prompted to restart again in order to change the UEFI settings. Click Restart and UEFI BIOS is loaded within seconds.

The fastest way to start the UEFI BIOS Surface tablets
Microsoft has provided its Surface tablets a quick start to the UEFI BIOS, which is to press a few buttons method.

First, you have to close its surface. If you need help with this, read this guide: 6 ways to shut down or reboot a PC with Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 or devices.

Then, while the Surface tablet is still off, press and hold the Volume Up (bios) on the left side of the device button.

Press and release the power button and when the surface logo appears, release the Volume Up (bios).

UEFI BIOS settings are now displayed.

Unfortunately, this method does not work on tablets are not from Microsoft. For example, I tried it on a Toshiba Encore not worked. Dell Venue Pro users reported the same in various forums.
