Updating the BIOS When Windows does not start

Update your computer’s BIOS is usually a relatively easy task. However, the use of normal BIOS update programs may be impossible to implement if your Windows operating system will not start. You can avoid this by making a bootable USB drive.
By putting the BIOS update software in the unit, you will be able to boot from the USB drive and run programs there. You will need to create a bootable USB Windows computer work.

Instructions

1 Open the HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool. Select the USB drive from the list of available units. Select the FAT32 file system and click the Start button.
2. Click Start on the desktop and select All Programs. Select Accessories and select Run. Type systemroot in the resulting box and press the Enter key. A new window will appear.
3. Click Tools and select Folder Options. Click the View tab and select Show hidden files and folders. Click the OK button.
4. Select the boot. Ini, ntldr and NTDETECT. Files Right-click the files and select Send to. Click the USB drive in the drive list. Windows copies the files to the USB drive.
5. Download and install PEBuilder. The PEBuilder program has the ability to put a bootable copy of Windows XP on the USB drive.
6. Insert the installation CD of Windows XP in the drive. Click the next to the Source Browse button. Select the Windows XP installation files from the CD.
7. Change the output a BartPE. Click Build and the software will build a bootable Windows XP field.
8. Click Start and select All Programs. Select Accessories and click Run. Type cmd. Exe in the box and press Enter.
9. Insert the drive into the USB port. Type cd and navigate to the root directory. Type cd PEBuilder bios plugin peinst replacing bios with the version number of your installation PEBuilder.
10. Type peinst and press Enter. A new window will open. Select 1 option in the menu to access the Change source path. Type c: PEBuilder bios BartPE, again replacing bios with your PEBuilder version.
11. Select the 2 and press Enter. Type the letter assigned to the USB drive followed by : and press Enter. Select 5 and press Enter. When the team has completed, Windows XP is installed on the USB drive.
12. Copy the BIOS update files from the desktop to the USB drive. Remove the USB drive, and insert it into the original equipment.
13. Restart the computer. Enter the BIOS boot menu by pressing the F2 key during startup of the BIOS. Select the option to boot from the USB drive, and press Enter. The computer will boot from the USB drive, allowing you to run the BIOS update.
